Weinberger is a research associate in the Youth Development, Criminal Justice, and Employment policy area, where he works on evaluations of government programs that serve populations with criminal justice involvement and barriers to employment. His current projects include the Los Angeles County Reentry Integrated Services Project, which is evaluating various programs that serve individuals on community supervision in Los Angeles, and the large-scale Building Evidence on Employment Strategies project, where he is helping conduct analyses to evaluate the effectiveness of innovative programs designed to boost employment and earnings among Americans with low incomes. Before joining MDRC, Weinberger was a researcher for the Bail Project, a nonprofit organization that is working on reforming the pretrial criminal justice system. He has an extensive background in working with local government agencies and using large administrative datasets to answer policy-relevant questions. Weinberger holds a PhD in policy analysis from the Pardee Rand Graduate School and a master’s in public policy from the University of Chicago.
In his free time, Weinberger likes to walk and bike the streets of San Francisco with his family. He likes to explore new coffee shops for himself and sunny playgrounds for his son. He is also an avid soccer fan and tries to get out on the field as much as he can.
