Garza Casado is a research associate in MDRC’s Youth Development, Criminal Justice, and Employment policy area. Before joining MDRC, Garza Casado was the senior data scientist in the Criminology Department at the University of Pennsylvania and a research fellow in the Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office DATA Lab. He was also a graduate research intern at the Mexico Institute of the Wilson Center, a research associate at the American Institutes for Research, and an advisor to the minister of finance in Mexico. Garza Casado has a B.A. in economics from the Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México in Mexico City, an M.P.P. from the Harris School of Public Policy at the University of Chicago, and a Ph.D. in political science from The Ohio State University, where his dissertation looked at ties between party alignment and resource allocation across multiple levels of government in Mexico.
