MDRC is pleased to announce that eight state teams have been selected as TANF Data Collaborative pilot sites:

• California Work Opportunity and Responsibility to Kids (CalWORKs) & Family Resilience Branch
• Colorado Department of Human Services, Division of Employment and Benefits
• Michigan Department of Health and Human Services
• Minnesota Department of Human Services, Economic Assistance and Employment Supports Division, in partnership with Dakota and Olmsted counties
• New Jersey Department of Human Services, Division of Family Development, and Rutgers University
• New York Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance
• Utah Department of Workforce Services
• Virginia Department of Social Services

The TANF Data Collaborative, sponsored by the federal Administration for Children and Families, was launched in late 2017 to accelerate the use of Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) administrative data for program improvement and evidence-building at the federal, state, and local levels.

These eight state teams will participate in a multiyear initiative to support TANF agency capacity and improve TANF program performance through applied data analytics. The TANF Data Collaborative is led by MDRC in partnership with Chapin Hall at the University of Chicago, Actionable Intelligence for Social Policy at the University of Pennsylvania, and the New York University Center for Urban Science and Progress - CUSP.
