MDRC is pleased to welcome three undergraduate interns who have joined us (virtually!) for the summer. Two internships are supported by the Judith Gueron Scholars Program, which seeks to engage and encourage individuals from groups that are traditionally underrepresented in the education and social policy research communities. A third internship is supported by the JFEW Eleanor Roosevelt Scholars Program at Hunter College.

• Hafsah Ansar is a rising senior at Hunter College, where she majors in psychology and minors in sociology. She was a fellow with the AAPI Community Fellowship, where she helped researchers develop a mental health screening tool for Asian-American young adults. She also served as a retention intern with STRIVE, a workforce development organization. Hafsah was recently selected for the Mellon Public Humanities Scholars Program. During her time at MDRC, Hafsah is contributing to the Men of Color Achievement Project, Building Evidence on Employment Strategies for Low-Income Families, and OnPath.
• Kathryn Chatman, a native of Detroit, is a rising senior at New York University where she studies applied psychology. She has worked as a research assistant for The Listening Project and as a tutor for America Reads. This summer, she is working on two projects in MDRC’s Families and Children policy area: Expanding Children’s Early Learning (ExCEL) P-3 and Building and Sustaining the Early Care and Education Workforce.
• Liz Saiz, originally from Houston, is a rising senior at New York University where she is studying applied psychology and Spanish. Previously a research assistant for Latino Family Engagement and Language Development, she is now codesigning an independent research project investigating the loss of bodily autonomy of women in detention centers. At MDRC, Liz is working on the Supporting Moves to Opportunity project and on an annotated bibliography about housing and labor market discrimination and disparities.
