MDRC Mourns the Passing of MDRC Board Member Robert Denham

The Board of Directors and the staff of MDRC mourn the passing of business executive and attorney Robert E. Denham, who served on the MDRC Board from 2014 to 2025. Denham died on March 15, 2025.
Denham was a long-time partner at the law firm of Munger, Tolles & Olson, where his practice focused on mergers and acquisitions and advising clients on strategic, financial, and corporate governance issues. In the 1990s, he served as general counsel and then chairman and CEO of Salomon, Inc.
“Bob valued MDRC’s mission and generously devoted his time and insights as chair of our investment committee for eight years,” said MDRC President Virginia Knox. “We are grateful for his many contributions and will miss him.”
In addition to serving on MDRC’s Board, Denham was a former elected chair of The John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation, vice chairman of the Good Samaritan Hospital of Los Angeles, and a trustee of the James Irvine Foundation, the New Village Charter High School, and the Russell Sage Foundation. He graduated in 1966 from the University of Texas, was awarded a master’s degree in government from Harvard University in 1968, and earned a J.D. from Harvard Law School in 1971.
Denham is survived by his wife, Carolyn; his children, Laura Denham-Evans and Jeff Denham; and four grandchildren. MDRC extends its sympathies to his family and friends.
