The Board of Directors and the staff of MDRC mourn the passing and honor the memory of Barbara B. Blum, former President of MDRC. She died on October 6. Barbara’s entire career was a testament to her personal mission to improve the lives of the most vulnerable people in society, especially children.

Earlier this month, New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg announced the first-ever “social impact bond” in the United States. The bond, between the city of New York and investment giant Goldman Sachs, will finance a behavioral treatment program for incarcerated adolescents on Rikers Island.

As part of the SaveUSA study, 1,665 individuals who had their tax returns prepared in New York City and Tulsa in 2011 and who consented to be in the study are being sought this fall to answer a series of survey questions.
